I really enjoyed today’s hike as I decided to challenge myself and try a slightly harder variation of my usual route. While it was more tiring than usual, I still felt a sense of satisfaction when I finished the hike. As usual I carried my standard daypack with ample amounts of food, water, an emergency supplies such as my surefire flashlight. Because this particular trail received far less foot traffic from other hikers than the easier trails I saw quite a bit more wildlife than I normally do including numerous deer. Despite the hard effort, the hike was a lot of fun.

For dinner, a treated myself to a wonderful steak dinner complete with mashed potatoes. It was of course delicious in addition to being nutritious. I don’t frequently eat like that given that I prefer to eat a relatively balanced diet in order to stay lean and healthy.

I don’t normally make trips to the sporting goods store near Turnberry Towers, however I needed find a new replacement for my old trusty flashlight. Apparently one of the bulbs is on the verge of burning out as it is now flickering for several minutes every time I turn it on. I did attempt to try a few of the suggested fixes that are mentioned on various internet flashlight forums to no avail. My last flashlight accompanied me on nearly every single camping trip and outdoor hike for a great number of years.
